Matt Baker was named president of Coldwell Banker Burnet in April 2017, 34 years after joining the company as a sales associate. In this role, he leads operations of the company’s 22 sales offices and more than 1,700 sales associates in Minneapolis-St. Paul, St. Cloud and Rochester, Minnesota, as well as western Wisconsin.
Before becoming president, Baker served as a senior vice president for Coldwell Banker Burnet, overseeing sales offices in Crocus Hill, Highland Park, Minneapolis Parkway and Minneapolis Lakes, where he also had branch management duties.
A lifelong Minnesota resident, Baker received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Colorado College and took graduate school courses in the MBA program at the University of St. Thomas before joining Coldwell Banker Burnet’s Minneapolis Lakes office in 1983. He became a sales manager in 1986 and was promoted to branch vice president in 1990.
Baker was instrumental in transforming “the Lakes” office from a neighborhood boutique into a dynamic regional sales office with an annual production of more than $1 billion. Under his leadership, the office was regularly recognized as NRT’s top office in the nation in number of homes sold. In 2012, he was promoted to senior vice president overseeing the city offices.
Baker is a member of Minneapolis Area Association of Realtors, the Minnesota Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors. He has served on MAAR’s board of directors and executive committee and as MAAR's treasurer in 2004.
Matt, his wife and son are lifelong residents of the Twin Cities and live in the Lakes Area.
